A poster visualizing the virtual place ‘Jucheon-hyang’ in ‘Ranma ½’

In 2017, as I was beginning my professional journey, I had the opportunity to create a poster. While pondering what to design, I decided to make a poster to share with my friends. At the time, my friends and I were all charting our career paths and seeking direction for the future. With the hope that we could each become role models in the paths we chose, I created this poster.

The lakes collaged in the poster represent the fictional location “Jucheon-hyang” from the anime “Ranma 1/2”. Jucheon-hyang is a place with hundreds of springs, where anyone who falls into a spring takes on the form of whatever first fell into it. Just like in Jucheon-hyang, we wished to transform into the people we aspired to be.

To visualize Jucheon-hyang, I searched for the "most beautiful lakes in the world" and chose Bow Lake as the setting for inspiration.

To portray the fictional location of “Jucheon-hyang”, I used images from Google Earth. The reimagining of Earth's real landscapes into a new, slightly unfamiliar space felt fitting for this concept. To depict the location with hundreds of springs, I collaged multiple screenshots captured from different angles.
